The art installation ‘The People and the City’, made for the Builder’s Day in front of the National Theatre, provoked the interest of the citizens of Sofia. Its idea was to make a review of the city architecture over time – from the oldest preserved building in Sofia – the St. George Rotunda, built in 4th century to present days – with a view to the first energy-independent and power-saving Winslow Gardens complex.
The installation included nine models of emblematic buildings of Sofia, turned into art objects in the style of the time, in which they were built. Every visitor was able to ‘project’ himself/ herself on the canvases, placed in the centre of the buildings. The art object was open for everyone willing to show his/her works from 26 to 28 October. In the next days - until 4th November - the canvases were exhibited in the City Garden in front of the National Theatre.
The building of the future – a part of the Winslow Garden complex captured the attention of the visitors of the art installation. The modern complex vision, as well as its unique features – more than half of its area is a park, this is the first energy-independent and power-saving complex in Bulgaria, the car traffic is directed to the underground road network – increased many times the number of people wishing to ‘project’ their shadows in the building of Winslow Gardens.
In addition to the great number of citizens of Sofia, who choose to include the art installation in their walk, on Saturday it was visited by a young couple, who decided to celebrate their wedding day in this way.
